We humbly acknowledge that the land on which we gather, in what is now known as Ontario, is the traditional territory of many Indigenous Nations who have lived, travelled, and cared for these lands for thousands of years. In particular, we recognize that the area we work and meet on—Tkaronto (Toronto)—is the ancestral territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Huron-Wendat peoples.

Today, this land is home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities, and we honour their continued connection to the land, waters, and skies. We offer gratitude for their ongoing stewardship and for the teachings that guide us toward respect, reciprocity, and healing.

We acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and we recognize our responsibilities as guests on this land. As we offer care and community through Simple Smyles, we commit to walking gently, listening deeply, and honouring the voices and histories of the Indigenous peoples of this land.
